The International Relation Office (IRO) reserves every year a certain amount of rooms for international students at the SOVEhB Student Home in Jette, a green and calm space in the outskirts of Brussels. You can apply at IRO, Johan De Sterke.

The studenthome offers about 260 furnished rooms, of which fifty are kept aside for international students by the international office. Each room contains a washing table, a refrigerator and an internet connection. Each floor has a shared kitchen, showers and toilets. The laundry and bicycle shed on the -1 floor are being used by all residents of the home.

Prices

The price varies according to the length of the tenancy agreement. The reserved rooms for foreign students cost 280 euro a month all-in, when you take a contract that is shorter than 10 months. A contract of 10 months, costs 250 euro a month. This means there is no extra electricity, gas or water bill. The caution is 300 euro.

Accommodation in the CITY CENTER - Br(ik

Another possibility to find a room, especially in the city centre, is the housing agency Br(ik. This joined venture of SOVEhB and the student services of the other Flemish Institutes of Higher Education in Brussels have a database with their own housing facilities, but also those of private landlords.

"Br(ik" is a cooperation of all Flemish universities and schools for further education in Brussels. They buy houses all over the city and turn them into student rooms and flats.

Quartier Latin - Kot

The database of Br(ik also contains rooms, flats and bedsits of private landlords. For these rooms you sign a contract with a private landlord. If a room has received the Br(ik-OK Label, it means that the room lives up to the quality regulations of Br(ik and that the contract does not contain any tricks. If a student posts a justified complaint about a landlord at Br(ik, this landlord is immediately kicked out of the database.

You can take a look at the rooms after registering yourself in their website (http://www.brik.be). If you are interested in a Br(ik room you can apply for it by mail and if you wish you can know the rooms before signing the contract. They do tours to see the rooms in the months of July and August. For more information you can contact Br(ik.

If you sign with a private landlord, we offer you some good adviceIf a room has no "Br(ik-OK label", the room is not automatically bad. The staff of Br(ik has not yet visited all rooms in Brussels.
